Kim Walker exhibits Gentler
Passion, presenting a sound installation exploring the architectural forms
surrounding hand-made sheds that pigeon fanciers build for their
birds. Dookits
or Doocots
are
hand-built structures constructed of wood or scrap metal and are used
to house pigeons. Within Scotland there are structural remnants
reflecting the traditions of rearing and keeping pigeons for racing
and leisure. This tradition was prevalent in Europe and notably,
within urban environments of Scotland.
Gentler
Passion
was generously supported by the Scottish Sculpture Workshop's (SSW)
Winter Residency program 2013.
